Assignments One and Two:
These two pictures are known as "Zentangles". The Zentangle is a repetition of shapes and patterns using lines. The creation of a Zentangle is typically considered to be a "calming method", as there is no real right or wrong way to do it. Through the Zentangle exercise, I become very relaxed and let go with art! Assignment Three: Contour drawing of a pinecone. Assignment Four: This is an acronym for remembering the elements of art. The essential elements of art include: Shape, value, form, lines, texture, space, and color. An artist needs to consider these concepts when creating their art. I created this with Taylor. Assignment Five: Modified contour of a pinecone. Assignment Six: Upside down drawing exercise done in-class. Assignment Seven: This is a traditional Japanese art, commonly called a "Gyotaku". The Gyotaku is made by painting fish and using the print on the traditional rice paper. I used a cool color as a background and warmer colors for the highlights in order to portray depth. Assignment Eight: Preposterous Crosslinks Assignment Twelve: Melting Rubix Cube (Assignment Thirteen) Coptic Binding- I chose to do a coptic binding stitch for my water marbled book. Coptic binding is essentially a series of chain stitches that when done properly form a beautiful stitch pattern. This type of binding actually did not take as much time as expected, which was surprising! I learned to be patient with my art, which has ultimately paid off! Assignment Fourteen: Spray painted high contrast self portrait Assignment Fifteen: Yearbook portrait |
