For this assignment, I used various types of shading techniques, such as hatching, cross hatching, and stippling, for the original pencil drawing. I then used warmer colors, such as the red-orange background and the yellow-orange coffee to keep this color scheme modern. I used a green and blue color to make both the red and yellow's pop, as they are complementary colors. This picture was created using soft pastel.
This is my Japanese Gyotaku painting. I used purple and pink watercolors, and then highlighted the eyes with a red and black watercolor pencil. The Japanese Gyotaku is a very traditional piece of artwork that involves taking a print of the fish. Traditionally, this began as a method of measuring the size of the fish that the fishermen caught.
This picture of a family riding bikes was done with watercolor pencils. I was inspired by the family activities that my family does during the spring. I included the complementary colors of blue and orange to make the piece stick out.
